The Child Protection NIAF is a conceptual framework that creates a common approach across Child Protection coordination and response actors on the continuous needs identification and data interpretation exercises. It makes use of the existing in country data sources such as the UNOCHA led Multi Sectoral Need Assessments, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), the existing official administrative data, sector specific assessments/surveys, incidents reports etc.
The Needs Identification and Analysis Framework (NIAF) helps the Child Protection Groups in the field find a balance between resources spent on data collection /needs assessments to those spent on analysis, the real pre-condition for appropriate CPCG response.
During the pandemic, the Child Protection AoR produced specific guidance to help identify changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and adjust child protection response accordingly. The present guide goes beyond the Pandemic. If this guide is used during the pandemic, the CPCG will consider the impact of COVID-19 and its containment measures on Child Protection, as an additional layer of crisis in the context.
For more information see the NIAF Handbook and the related resources (all NIAF annexes).
