In South Sudan, a coordination-strengthening workshop was held for leads and co-leads of Child Protection Working Groups of South Sudan. From 9-11 February, the group aimed to strengthen coordination between state-level CPWGs and the national-level Child Protection Sub-Cluster, improve preparedness, develop contingency plans and state-level work plans.
22 participants represented all ten states including 9 Directors of Child Welfare from the Ministry of Gender and Social Development, 8 from NGOs and 5 from UNICEF.
The workshop covered the following topics:
Humanitarian coordination mechanism; Review of roles and responsibilities of CPSC/CPWG focal points/co-lead agencies; strengthening communication and coordination between CPSC and CPWG; Field monitoring and reporting; Gender mainstreaming, Preparedness, Assessment, Introduction to SRP, Code of conduct for Child Protection and State-level work plan.
