Sudan: Psychosocial Support Training Manual Launched
"One step closer to delivering quality psychosocial support to all children and adolescents in emergencies in Sudan."
On 23 November 2015, key partners of the Sudanese Child Protection sub-Cluster -- the National Council for Child Welfare, UNICEF and Ahfad University -- launched the national minimum standards training manual “Psychosocial Support for Children and Adolescents in Emergencies.”
The much-awaited manual has been under development for the last 18 months, including a situation assessment of psychosocial support and child friendly spaces in North Darfur, Blue Nile and South Kordofan, as well as piloting in North Darfur and White Nile. It is aimed at all those providing psychosocial support: social workers, teachers, animators and community members. It is ready for national roll out in 2016 through the Child Protection sub-Cluster and the Ministry of Social Welfare.
