Australia: CPiE Training
In partnership with RedR Australia and with the support of DFAT Australia, the CPWG Learning and Development Working Group delivered a 5-day Child Protection in Emergencies Face to Face training in Melbourne, Australia from 30/11 to 4/12/2015.
The training had over 25 participants from 8 organisations and the group developed an Action Plan for follow-up at the end of the week.
The 5-day training focussed on building skills and transferring knowledge to promote effective programming of child protection in emergencies work. The training had a special focus on the application and use of the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.
At the end of the training participants were able to: understand the risk factors that make children vulnerable during emergencies; gain knowledge of best practices in prevention, preparedness and response to protecting children in emergencies; develop skills to protect children; understand the minimum standards for protecting children in humanitarian settings; improve coordination of the child protection in emergencies sector; develop plans on which the Australia-based CPiE Working Group can act.
